Anyone takes effexor xr and tramadol? someone told me it is not safe to take together?

Effexor XR is 150mg and Tramadol 400 mg for day(100mg) tablets. Does it pitiful I only can take 1x4 periods daily or can I take other if I do not procure plenty pain relief easing still stick to 400mg per twenty-four hours?
