The same can be said about tramadol. 50 a month is a small dose and as long as you don't need more I would keep taking them IF they work. Your safe, in high high doses of promethazine It could cause a seizure. I mean a ridiculous dose though.. take the recommended dose. The tramadol can cause seizures especially if you are prone to them.. but I am prone to seizures and have taken it before and it didn't cause me to have one.. but another time I took it and I had one. Then one different time I wasn't taking it and I had one. So. it's is your body.. I wouldn't exceed 100mg of it at once though, then you will incrase your risk of a seizure when on the medication.

So, if that was true, people wouldn't become addicted to oxycontin or heroin either. Fully synthetic opiates include fentanyl, demerol, and methadone, and many people say methadone addiction can be the worst of all. So, just because its not a "pure" opiate, doesn't mean anything, because the only common pure opiates are codeine and morphine.

You have been on it for a long time though and I suspect it might be a little more than just a physical addiction. You should talk to your doc and see what he can do for you.
